COVID-19 Update: Governor Issues Mandate On July 17, Governor Gavin Newsom announced and the California Department of Public Health issued a new mandate that schools in counties on California’s “COVID Watchlist” must remain online only until they meet a series of requirements related to testing and numbers of new cases.
